SmartSight/Silk Laser Refractive Surgery
What is SmartSight/Silk?
SmartSight/Silk is the latest laser refractive surgical technique often referred to as Keratorefractive Lenticule Extraction (KLEX). It uses a femtosecond (10-15) laser to cut a circular strip of tissue from the front of the eye and this is removed via a small laser incision. The procedure is sometimes described as key-hole LASIK.

What does refractive surgery cost?
Laser refractive surgery with Dr Christopher Chan starts from $2000 per eye. The cost of laser refractive surgery varies depending on individual patient needs and the type of refractive procedure.
Why Choose SmartSight/Silk?
Unlike traditional refractive surgery, SmartSight/Silk does not produce a corneal flap or significantly affect the top layer of the cornea. As a result, the procedure is painless, healing and recovery times are faster than for PRK. The return to sport and normal activities is also more rapid with SmartSight/Silk.
SmartSight/Silk may also reduce the duration and degree of dry eye symptoms compared with other forms of refractive surgery. Other potential advantages include the maintenance of corneal strength, less corneal aberration (reduced visual distortions) and a greater stability in the result over time.
Who it helps
SmartSight/Silk is only available to correct short sightedness (myopia) and astigmatism at present. Correction for long sightedness (hyperopia) is under active development and is coming soon.
SmartSight/Silk can also be used on those with thinner corneas, in which other refractive procedures may be less suitable.
